Michael Angelo's David Indeed!!

Hi!

We went through the Galleria dell’Accademia and the Galleria degli Uffizi.  By far the “David” was the star attraction and the sculptures, paintings and writings.  The students were truly moved today with what we saw and we dubbed Dr. Deb tour director of the year!  The last couple of days on our own have been the best hotels and food.  The students took turns with the maps and getting us lost from time to time.  Harrison has definitely emerged as the leader of the trip he has helped all the students and the staff and took charge when skirmishes broke out.  The boys bought watches ( that usually stopped working in record time) but ah to be young and foolish.  This was our last day and your students couldn’t wait to spend the rest of their cash.  As the night wears on they are becoming irritated so think of how much you have to look forward to at the airport after a 15 hour flight!  Lily has stuck to an amazing scheduled (monitored) and is happy with herself!  Despite what your students may come home and negatively talk about,  the trip was a great success! Thank you parents, siblings, staff, students , alumni Murph and Kayde and all of our families :)   The 2011 internatinal trip will be to Costa Rica and the rain forest so stay tuned……

The leaning tower of Pisa is still leaning!

Hi!

Well trains, public buses, and taxis finally got us to our destination and it is amazing!  The food is great and we are having fun.  Shawn got us lost haha but finally found our hotel.  The students are grumpy but don’t fret the chaparones are 3 fold as short tempered!!!!  We shopped and people watched for most of the day.  We are putting up more pictures tonight and we hope that you enjoy them…

On our own and feeling great!

Hi!

Yes we have conquered Rome and are off to Florence in the morning.  Today we ate ourselves silly, went to a church made out of Franciscan monk bones, and were in awe of the Trevi Fountain!  We also saw the Triton Fountain and finished the day with the hard rock cafe!  We had the chance to sit through a Latin mass and lit candles.  Today was a tough day because we walked everywhere and Dr. Deb got us lost a couple of times but thus begins the great RESCU adventures!  We had a blast will sleep well tonight.

Gladiators, Pantheon and Popes oh my!

Hi!

We had the same breakfast and some type of alien syrup for orange juice eeek!  We went to Vatican City and asked to speak with who was in charge…Ha needless to say the answer was no! It was amazing and pictures are coming to the gallery.  Statues, paintings, and tapestries were the theme of the day and penis’ abounded except the ones which were cut off due to complaints of the people.  I had mixed emotions around the  country of Vatican City knowing  they could sell some of their trinkets to private collectors and cure world hunger….hmm what would Jesus do?   The Pantheon was amazing and we had a great tour guide.  The food for lunch and dinner was amazing and Lily continues to struggle with her food issues however is responing fairly well to feedback and everyday is better than the day before.  The gladiators were quite  interesting and the students bought gelato and souveniers every chance they got.  Sam was in charge of the blog last night and became very frustrated when he needed to finish it this morning.  A pillow fight began which ended up in a screaming match between Pringle and Sam however, Harrison caught it all on film.  Shout out to Katie, Miri, Larry and Abbi–respond.  Italy stole many customs from Greece and has a lot of their treasures here.  We said goodbye to our tour guide Rebecca and we are on our own for three days.  Dr. Deb is the official tour guide starting tomorrow.  We are staying in Rome for one more day. Kayde is learning that she is a little rusty on her RESCU Academy mischievious students games but she is catching up fast and doing a great job!  Murphy has been my body guard and very helpful and loves the RESCU students.  Luckily, he is always a step ahead of them:)  Mom and Dad wish you were here and Randy I miss you we would have fun.  Coop thanx for all your e-mails.  We all  miss you Art!

We are visiting Pompeii and then to Rome

The Pompeii was unbelievable!  We saw dead bodies that died from Mt. Vesuvias when it errupted.  The saddest part was seeing the tortured faces on the poor dogs left behing:( They died from the sulfur gas liquifying their insides and then they breathed in all the ash.  You could see the ash still in the mouths of the people and dogs.  We went through the brothels in the red light district and oh boy those Romans were nutty..  Because there were so many languages spoken they made signs so one just pointed to their pleasure need!  My favorite was the pulling of the womens hair while riding the guy,  in what only could be described as the backwords cowgirl style.  Yes, We hope we have given you an image in your heads because god knows we can’t get in out of ours HAHAHA. Hey Julie I miss our debriefings and trust me this will be a long one! Mom and Dad I am still doing well and we have made it to Rome.  Tomorrow is the Vatican…Can you imagine ?  Thanks for all your support and the food is better her in Italy:)

Chris gets a makeover at his request!

Hi!

Well Chris decided he wanted and makeover and low and behold RESCU Academy gave him his wish.  The tour director plucked his eyebrows nicely, he shaved of his mutton chops  and Kayde gave him the haircut of a lifetime.  Chris through his cut hair over the rail which then swiftly fell back to the first deck and strangely looked like tarantulas crawling around.  Needless to say we ran as fast as our little feet would take us and giggled until we couldn’t breathe.  He looks GREAT and is Very pleased!  We will be searching for brightly colored loafers and some shirts.  Kayde ,meanwhile, made 50 Euro off the deal and all was happy in RESCU land. To be fair Kayde had to use scisssors from the front desk…It’s a miracle.  Sean has been doing handstands and we called to check on Abbi, respond! Yeah Joey H. sounds like you are having a great time together running through Chicago and Michigan.  Go Bucks :)   Our breakfast on the Ferry consisted of rotten eggs, 2 giant croutons and a lame piece of chocolate cake. Yuck  the kids got some shopping done before we left!

What no internet in Greece?

Hi!

Yes it is true we have not had internet for seveal days however, the students continued to blog and will be posted tonight!  We stayed at a resort in Greece and Chris, Christina, Sean and Joel all went swimming spontanously into the sea.  They did so by taking off their clothes, except their underwear, and went for it into the sea!  It was hilarious and interesting when they all came out….yes pictures were taken and I dare say the word “shrinkage” comes to mind!  We have been having pretty weird food in Greece and are ready to move on to Rome.  We visited the the original olympic stadium and saw where the flame gets lit and carried out to the country holding the games.  The stories of the athletes are very interesting including the one where women were not allowed to view the games.  Well, as luck would have it…a mother snuck in dressed like a coach to see her son run the foot race.  Of course after her boy had won she went screaming and shouting into the middle of the field and someone tripped her on the stairs and her robe came off  and she was seen as a woman.  The penalty was death , which the crowd demanded, however she exclaimed, “I am a daughter of a olympic champion the sister of two olympic champions and now the mother of an olympic champion If you want to kill me do as you like I am ready to die”  I felt the need to let Cooper know that I would have done the same for him and been just as proud Yeeee Haaa.  Even back then the women found a way! haha  Lily has gotten some good advice from the alumni and is blending in well with the crowd as long as she sticks to the schedule.  Chistina has been pure entertainment despite her cold. Brandon has us all in stiches and Joel is alive and having a blast.  We stopped the aderall and It is a huge difference!  Hi to the staff and keep yours posts coming.  And now off the the Ferry and Rome.

To the highest point of the city and beyond…

Hi!

Breakfast was the same.  We went to the highest  point of the city and shopped. We saw several churches and learned that churches can never be moved  so even modern buildings are built around existing churches.  Attitudes were adjusted including: Chris, Lilly, and finally Pringle whose brave mom received a phone call in the middle of the night to ask if she would fly Pringle home because he was  “sick of the rules”. Gaylene is a true RESCU parent and the words “suck it up”  comes to mind!  All is well in Greece and the students have been adjusted “RESCU style”  They are perfect angels and Pringle is glad that he stayed.  Lilly learned to give it back to the boys and told Sean H. a thing or two and it was appropriate and hilarious. Debbie, Murphy, and Kayde took the students bowling and to pizza which was great because food for dinner was frightening… Sam contiues to be eaten alive with Harison, Pringle, Sean H and Joel by mosquitos.  There is blood all over the walls from smashing them…Tomorrow we move hotels to a resort and see other parts of the city.

The Acropolis

Hi!

For breakfast we had a buffet filled with hard boiled eggs, strange orange juice, yogurt, toast, cereal and olives!  We then jumped onto the tram and went to see the Acropolis.  Chris almost got hit by a car 4 different times.  He has the lives of a cat.  The stray dogs are everywhere but the council collars, tags, provides food, water and medical care.  All strays are open to adoption by the people of Greece they just need to report it to the council.  We learned all about the Greek wars, religion, politics, government, traditions and holidays. Sean did a hand stand up on the Acropolis.  The material used was all white marble which was incredibly slippery.  Joel took quite a spill but was ok.  Sam has been eaten alive by mosquitos and fleas.  He had some benedryl because the itching was driving him nuts and he slept for a couple of hours.  Dr. Deb did surgery on Sean H. , Christina, and Joey.  Sea Urchins spines were left in their feet and pieces of glass and sand.  Don’t worry they are on the mend.  We toured the city and then came back for a rest, shopping, and dinner.  We ate smelly cheesy spaghetti with bacon….EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEk cabbage and carrot salad and pears.  We are off to go bowling and then sleepy.  Bad ideas include Lilly doing sit ups on a daily basis and Joey B. waking up in the middle of the night and polishing off all of his candy.  Cheryl woke up at 5:00am and informed pringle that she was hungry and thirsty and thus the room was alive yeeee ha.  Valerie and Nicole I miss you and Muskrat is aliveand well.

Our first day in Greece

Hi!

We are here!  Flight from Washington DC to Munich  was eventful.  Sean H. threw up for half of the flight but don’t worry pictures were taken…The students chose to stay up the whole trip which makes United Airlines a whole new company. Rest assured they will never be the same.  They attempted to send “Nurse Ratchet” after us but as usual, we prevailed.  All the students took their medication and Sean H. was looking for his fictitious friend “Billy” who was coming on the plane as soon as he left the swap meet. Ha Ha  We had lots of fun with that.  Joey B. ate nuts that had fallen on the floor and we were all trapped like gerbils!  The last leg of the trip was smooth and the students started to drop like flies.  We landed and began our tour.  We went to the mediterean sea and Christina, Chris, Joey and Sean H. Dove in…we told Chris that he had a leech on his back and it was hilarious finally we let him know that they are not in salt water but it took some convincing!  Our first meal was crapes followed by chicken, rice, bread, pears and apples.  Dr. Deb pulled small slivers of glass from the students who went swimming and Cheryl fed entire flock of sea gulls a strawberry crepe.  Tomorrow is a big day and we will keep you posted.  Shout out to Cooper, Valerie, Nicole, Jason, Art and a PS to my parents….I’m doing welll:) Oh yeah Chris almost died by walking in front of  cars moving at 100 miles per hour but our screams saved his life and on Easter Sunday no less it was a miracle.
