Arch Academy Prepares for Trip to China

BeijingThe Arch Academy Staff are pleased to announce an exciting educational trip for our students coming up during the summer vacation.  On July 10th through July 21st, we will venture through China on an EF Educational Tour.  By experiencing foreign cities, distant cultures firsthand and understanding different international perspectives, our students will be able to connect with their studies and the world and society around them in a new way. By traveling to China, our students are not just learning about other places, cultures and languages, they’re living it, feeling it, and experiencing a once in a life time trip.Great Wall

We will discover China, it’s complex history, intricate culture and fantastic landmarks and museums. We will pass through Beijing, with a guided tour of Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, and Imperial Palace. Students will experience the Chinese school system when they meet with students first hand.  Students will also visit the Great Wall of China and experience a Riksha Tour of Hutongs. Students will culturally immerse themselves as they peek into a daily life of a typical Chinese family. They will learn and enjoy the art of Chinese cooking during a visit to a local household. On the fourth day the students will start their day off with Tai Chi exercises and visit the Temple of Heaven Park. Then they are off to a Xi’an where they will visit the Museum of the Terra- Cotta Army. Afterwards, they will venture to the 3-D iMax theatre to view a fascinating film depicting the excavation process of the Terra-Cotta Army. The group is then off to Shanghai where they will visit the Jim Mao Tower, the Bund, and receive a guided tour of the city. Our group will visit a local hospital to learn about Chinese medicine and acupuncture.  We have also added a three day extension to Hong Kong to visit the city, Victoria Peak, Happy Valley, Stanley Market.

We are having our first fundraising activity on Saturday, February 21st, 2009.  The Arch Academy Alumni students are putting on their own Swimathon to help raise money for the trip.  Please come support the event at the Cameron Family YMCA in Santee at 12:00pm.
